Appropriate Clothing & Weather
Please bear in mind Lilidorei is outdoors in a sheltered magical forest of around 1500 trees. It also involves safe but challenging play on a 26m high play structure, so please come prepared for the weather with waterproofs/warm clothing and suitable footwear. Trainers are fine but no high heels!
In extreme weather we may have to temporarily close some areas of the play structure.
In the event that Lilidorei has to close due to bad weather, we will make this announcement via our social media channels and email those that are booked to visit on the day of closure.
Session timing
Everyone must book into a Lilidorei play session because space is strictly limited. Our off-peak sessions are 10am-5pm and you are welcome to stay as long as you like, but we recommend a minimum time for a visit is 1.5 hours.
Our peak sessions are split into time slots (10am-3pm and 3:30pm-8pm). You are welcome to arrive at any point during your session, but we are afraid that you must leave at the end of your booked time slot.*
Children must be always accompanied by an adult in the village, our clans are not responsible for them!
Pre-booking your play session is essential to avoid disappointment!
*please note session timing may vary during Halloween and Christmas periods
Finding us
The Alnwick Garden is well signposted from the A1 and parking costs £3.50 for the day (If using sat nav please follow NE66 1FJ or you can use “What Three Words” ///package.oasis.retaliate).
Follow the footpath signs to Lilidorei from the Gardens. There is an accessible car park too.
We recommend that you spend at least 1 hr 30 minutes in Lilidorei. Children must be always accompanied by a well-behaved adult in the village, our clans are not responsible for them!
Playing in the structure
Your safety is our top priority at all times and there will be Secret Keepers (staff) in the village and on the play structure itself to help you during your visit. If you have any queries whatsoever please do speak to them.
Our magical play structure is 26m high which seems scary – but it has been designed and checked by experts so it is safe. We want there to be something for everyone – our aim is to encourage children of different abilities to play together. There are bridges, ladders and swings to swing on as well as towers to climb and six different slides to descend. Mind your head as some of parts of the structure are tiny and you have to duck.
Your bravery can be put to the test to see how far and high you can go but do not worry – if you don’t quite fancy sliding down a 24m slide then there is still plenty else to keep you entertained.
There are 3 simple sliding rules:
• Cross your arms and legs. Let yourself slide – don’t use your feet/legs to slow down.
• Only one person at a time. Allow the person in front time to get off the slide before you start.
• Age/Size. The 26 metre high play structure gets more challenging the higher you go up but there is something for everyone. You must be able to climb up to the highest slide by yourself to be big enough to go down it.

What is Lilidorei?
Lilidorei (pronounced Lil-ee-door-ee), is a magical kingdom ruled by Lord Elfwin from high up in his tower Elfwin Drin (which happens to be the largest play structure in the world!). Lilidorei is home to our 9 clans – some friendly, some less so, who all worship Christmas. Despite their HUGE presence within Lilidorei, they cannot be seen us humans! Fear not, our team of Secret Keepers know lots of little secrets about them, so they can give you clues and help you create your own story here at Lilidorei!
Lilidorei aims to create an environment that encourages both imaginary and physical play. Although you cannot see our mystic creatures that live here, you may hear them when walking round our immersive soundscape that has been created and you can peep in the clan’s habitats and find out more about how they live.
Storytelling and Activities
Lilidorei is home to 9 clans who worship Christmas (don’t we all!). Their houses are dotted around the village to explore, our team of Secret Keepers bring the magical village and its nine clans to life with storytelling and play activities for different age groups every day.
There is also a magical immersive soundscape to help you create your own stories of Lilidorei. Some of the clans are good – but some are really bad and could be scary for our youngest visitors so please be aware.
Is it Christmas all year at Lilidorei?
Whilst our 9 clans worship Christmas, they do not spend all year celebrating it. After spending most of the year squabbling, we know that all 9 clans of Lilidorei come together at Christmas from mid-November. Christmas is a truly magical and peaceful time, where everyone gets on. Before then, well, all hell breaks loose sometimes. Some like the Fairies are helping Elfwin Drin, the ruler of Lilidorei. Others, like the Goblins and Hobgoblins are bad, and can sometimes come across a little scary! It can be pandemonium, especially at Halloween!
What age is Lilidorei suitable for?
Lilidorei is aimed at ages 11 and under, but we have seen grown adults enjoying the slides as much as the children!
How does the Combined Ticket work?
Our Combined Ticket allows visitors to experience the magical play village of Lilidorei alongside The Alnwick Garden on the same day. For Lilidorei, you will still need to book your play session and you can arrive any time within your chosen slot but must leave by the end time of your play session. When visiting The Garden, you can come and go as you please on the day your ticket is valid for!
I’m a Founder Member, how do I book?
